Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta






What You'll Need


  • 3/4 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • tow tablespoons olive oil
  • one onion, diced
  • one clove garlic, minced
  • one (14.5 ounce) can Italian-style diced tomatoes, undrained
  • one tablespoon dried basil leaves
  • one tablespoon butter

How to Make It


  1. In a saucepan, saute onion and garlic in olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Make sure it doesn't burn.
  3. Add tomatoes, basil, sugar, oregano, salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to boil and continue to boil 5 minutes or until most of the liquid evaporates.
  5. Remove from heat; stir in whipping cream and butter.
  6. Reduce heat and simmer 5 more minutes.
